Today, you can Nominate an eCT to any paper dealing, including a SPEAR dealing.
To Nominate an eCT to a SPEAR dealing be sure to quote the SPEAR reference and the plan number details.
However, the VIC Registrar does not allow a pCT to be Nominated to any paper dealing via Convert pCT to eCT and Nominate. This is a security measure.
If a pCT were to be converted to eCT for a paper dealing, the Registrar would not be provided sufficient evidence to ensure that the Party purporting to be in possession of the pCT is in fact in possession of the pCT.
A pCT can only be Nominated to an electronic Lodgement Case (via the Convert pCT to eCT and Nominate to Lodgement Case) because the Registrar has the evidence in the Lodgement Case to be satisfied that the Party purporting to be in possession of the pCT is either the 1st Mortgagee or Proprietor.
