I think they are now MLC Building Society. If you were doing a PEXA settlement then you would need to invite HSBC. Might pay to contact MLC first and the try HSBC if you have no luck.

I have an idea the MLC was acquired by NAB and later sold to IOOF* Holdings Ltd, name later changed to Insignia Financial Ltd.
*The Independent Order of Odd Fellows: truly.
MLC Ltd still exists as a life assurance company but that company -- I think -- is not part of the IOOF group. As the life insurer, I don't think it would be a successor to the mortgagee, The Mutual Life and Citizens Assurance Coy Ltd.

That is great information. Love the new name.
@ClaireMartin then if that is the case then let me did a bit deeper to see if anyone else knows the answer. If you find out in the meantime please share as someone else may have this randomly popup as well.

Hi,
In your digging, wondering if you found out who to talk to, to get MLC Building Society Ltd interest on a property title, discharged?
So far I have talked to MLC, IOOF, NRMA, NAB, none of them can help. Now waiting on HSBC to see if they can find anything.

Hi @Leigh1
Apologies for not updating you on this. My digging confirmed it is definitely HSBC.
Hope that helps you get the discharge sorted!
