Hi all, I did enquire about this in a very early PEXA dealing however, was told that it was not possible at that time to pay Land Tax via BPay so the Land Tax funds were paid in to my trust account as part of settlement and I drew a cheque to pay the tax however, I have noticed from a Duties Assessment Notice issued today that transfer duty payments are now accepted by OSR via BPay with BPay code 969139. My question is it how now possible to pay Land Tax accounts via BPay in PEXA and if so, what is the reference number used...the client ID perhaps?

Hi Courtenay, yes I believe that you can now pay Land Tax in PEXA via BPAY... You may have to contact OSR directly to obtain the biller details - I don't think they reflect this info on their Land Tax Assessments just yet.

I will explore this more next time I have a land tax account to pay in a Pexa transaction and hopefully OSR consider putting the BPay account details on their Certificates soon like most of the councils have started doing.

Can you please confirm our discussion last week in that Land Tax cannot be paid via PEXA due to a ruling at OSR for the time being?

I was informed by the Department of Finance (Office State Revenue) that Land tax may be paid via BPay, (BPay details on the Seller version of Land Tax Notice of Assessment).
However, OSR informs they prefer and action payment by cheques from Practitioners.
Would be interested to see any ruling if available?

Hi @sarahrussell ,
Yes I can confirm that OSR in WA are no longer providing their BPAY payment details as these payments are causing them reconciliation issues. This means that these payments cannot be processed through PEXA at this stage.

Just to clarify after speaking with OSR today, there is a distinction between the Land Tax Assessment Notice and the land tax certificate of charges that is a result of the EAS lodged before settlement.
The certificate of charges does not yet have electronic payment options available, but will do soon. The Land Tax Assessment Notice has all payment options available and is issued once a year to the owner at 30 June.
Any further queries are best directed to OSR on their enquiries line.
