A Push Notification is a call-out that appears when events occur in the PEXA system.

These notifications are displayed for you, irrespective of the page you are currently on. This importantly notifies you of changes that are happening across all of your workspaces, and allows you to be kept up-to-date of processes that were previously happening in the background.

 

Push Notifications for Signing 

Efficient signing has been introduced to help speed up the process of signing your documents in PEXA.

With efficient signing, you no longer have to wait for the Signing to complete before continuing to use PEXA. This speeds up the process and ensured that you’re not sitting watching the “Please wait while we process your request” message. 

 

NOTE: Pilot release: This functionality is being enabled for a select pilot group in Release 7.1. If you would like to be included in this pilot group, please comment against this article or contact your PEXA Account manager for more assistance.

 

Push notification and the new signing process:

When Signing, PEXA returns you to the Documents screen and you will notice a “Document signing in progress” banner.

You can continue using PEXA.

When the Signing is complete you will receive the Notification.

Once Lodgement Verification is complete, the Documents screen refreshes automatically.

 

 

Additional signing statuses

Signing couldn’t be completed

  • If Signing was partially successful, the Notification will appear as a Warning and a different colour shading

  • If Signing cannot complete (for example, Certificate is expired), the Notification will appear in red and you’ll need to close it.

Troubleshooting Push Notifications

 

If you see the following “Push Notifications” message displayed in your browser, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.

To troubleshoot your Push Notification issue, we recommend you run two tests:

  1. Test Websockets
  2. Test Cross-Origin resource Sharing (CORS)

 

 

1. Test Websockets

WebSockets is an advanced technology that makes it possible to open an interactive communication session between your browser and our servers. Your browser must support websockets for the Push Notification feature to be available.

Browser compatibility

The following website will list all browsers that support websockets:  http://caniuse.com/#feat=websockets .

Steps:

  1. Load the website https://www.websocket.org/echo.html in the Browser you use for PEXA.

In this example, we are using Chrome, and the browser supports websockets.

In this example, we are using Internet Explorer version 8, and the browser is not supported. If unsupported, please visit https://pexa.com.au/soe for minimum SOE requirements to use PEXA.

  1. Check connectivity to validate there is no firewall or proxies blocking the connection.
    • Check the `Use secure WebSocket (TLS)`

      • Click `Connect`

      • In the Log window, a Connected message should be seen

      • Send a Message (use the default)
      • push_notifications_14.png
      • Check the Log window, for the SENT and Received message

      • If you successfully completed these steps, your Browser can establish a WebSocket connection. 
        If you still have issues with accessing then please please review your network configurations and firewalls.

2. Test Cross-Origin resource Sharing (CORS)

Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) capability is also required for Push Notification to work properly. Follow the steps below to verify if your network environment supports CORS:

Steps:

  1. Load the website http://test-cors.appspot.com/#technical in the Browser you use for PEXA. This website will test CORS capability in your network environment by submitting various testing requests to a server of a different origin.

If it’s successful, you should see results with ticks across all the tests as below:

Hi @BrettCS

I have noticed this pushed Notification issue Notice popup

while in a workspace 'Learn more' button brought me here.

But the above browser tests links results all OK, should I be concerned?

Hi @DMc, 

Apologies that we have not got back to you sooner.  We have looked into the issue of the notification. 

After further investigation into the activity logs, connections are established between you and PEXA, therefore the push notification functionality will continue to work. 

This message may also display when our members experience an internet connection disruption.  When you dismiss the ‘Notifications Issues’ this will be for a period of 48 hours and therefore if you encounter any internet connection disruption, the message will not display.  However, once the 48 hours lapse, it will display again shall there be another connectivity issue.

We understand that this message will cause confusion, and we will be updating the ‘Troubleshooting Push Notifications’ notes on our PEXA Community page to include the connectivity issue discussed.  

If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this for yourself and our members please let me know and we will take this onboard.

Hope this helps alleviate your concerns, if there is anything else please don't hesitate to contact us and again sorry for the delay.

This Push notificiations system, still not seem to be working but it now refers to 'setup' in the message...

Is there supposed to be somewhere to enter 'setup'?

We have looked into the issue of the notification and similar to last time, connections are established between you and PEXA, therefore the push notification functionality will continue to work. 

 

This message will display when our members experience an internet connection disruption.  However, when you dismiss the ‘Notifications Issues’ this will now be for a period of 4 weeks and therefore if you encounter any internet connection disruption, the message will not display.  However, once the 4 weeks lapse, it will display again shall there be another connectivity issue.

 

Unfortunately, we cannot remove the message as of yet as this function is not yet used by all our members hence we have updated the ‘Push Notifications’ on screen to advise our new users that they will need to check their set up rather than alarm them with that there is an issue.

Hi @BrettCS & @Beck.

Now have a new push notification on trying to apply my digital signature... 

Started yesterday after trying to test my replacement Digital Certificate, then my old one, which should not have expired yet...- neither work.

Any idea on how to fix this one?

Have emailed support last night no reply just yet other than 'Severity 4 ticket' being raised doesn't help with pending settlement on a workspace though.

Have successfully re-registered my unexpired Digi-Cert per https://community.pexa.com.au/t5/Help-Centre/Installing-the-Digital-Certificate-Software/ba-p/167  to check if that fixes it, to no avail... Smiley Wink

I've been informed that this was an issue with your certificate caching that has thankfully now been resolved.

 

I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention, and I will now look at the way such messages are worded. I'm gathering together all such messages and will endeavour to make them a lot more user friendly.
