Verifying the identity of your clients

In PEXA, it is the responsibility of all Subscribers to verify the identity of the client(s) they represent.

Practitioners have two options:

1. Complete your client VOI yourself; or

2. Use an agent (such as ZipID or Australia Post) to complete the VOI

   • Please note that if you wish to use Australia Post to complete your client VOI, you will need to complete this Australia Post form.

Further details on practitioner responsibilities regarding client VOI can be found in the Model Participation Rules on the ARNECC website. 

International VOI

Australian citizens and residents who are overseas must have their identity verified at an Australian Consular Office in accordance with the Model Participation Rules. 

Note: Category 5 documents (MPR Version 3) cannot be used for VOI in a foreign country.

The VOI standard allows Australian passports which are expired (within two years).  It seems Australia Post does not accept expired passports.  Apparently ZIP ID do accept expired passports.  Also, Australia Post do not witness the signing of the PEXA client authorisation and ZIP ID apparently do.

Check your LTIDVF version. Since Auspost did update their agreements to allow for this, a while back, and you may need to request the latest agreement and updated form to allow the CAF &/ other document witnessing apon applicant presentation of other documentation...
