Using the conversation tool

When creating the other side in PEXA, it would be useful to be able to contact them through PEXA before they accept your invitation to enquire if they want to settle through PEXA!

Even though the other Solicitor/Conveyancer may be registered for PEXA this does not always mean their incoming/discharging bank or even their clients may be willing to settle through PEXA. If you attempt to start a conversation with the other side before they have accepted your invitation you get an error message "No conversations currently created. To start a conversation, there must be another participant in this workspace".

It would be useful to have a conversation with them to enquire if their bank/client is willing to settle PEXA, in the first place! Otherwise, either a phone call or email is required for the same purpose. Personally I would prefer to contact them on the PEXA platform to track it on the PEXA platform.

Solution

Re: Using the conversation tool

Hi @Rowena,

This is simply a restriction we have in PEXA at present. Conversations can only exist with participants that are part of your Workspace.

I agree. I definitely think that our Conversations function can be enhanced. And I'll definitely send this through to our product team for review.

Thanks for taking the time,

Brett

Re: Using the conversation tool

Hello @Rowena,

Great to hear that your preference is to use the PEXA platform to communicate with other subscribers. The conversation tool is intended to directly help with collaboration on the PEXA System.

We've taken a lot of positive feedback around the conversation tool lately, and we'd very much like to help improve the tool.

I do agree, there are benefits if a conversation could be started with a PEXA subscriber outside a specific transaction, or even with other participants as part of an invitation to join them in a workspace. This is feedback we will take on-board with our review of the conversation tool.

One thing that could help in the meantime, before any updates are made:

  • You can add detailed notes to the invitation. These notes are added to the invitation sent to the subscriber, in both the email and the PEXA screen. I've seen these notes used to help drive participation in a PEXA transaction, from including additional client and settlement details, to gentle encouragement.

Once the participant accepts, the Conversation tool can be used immediately for collaboration on your transaction.

Re: Using the conversation tool

I could use the notes, but I still have the same problem that they have to accept the invitation before I can have a conversation with them.

The conversation tool would be a good way to 'test the waters' to see if the otherside's parties want to settle PEXA. As stated before, the bank may be registered for PEXA but the Vendor/Purchaser may not want to settle electronically.  If one of the parties involved doesn't want to settle electronically they can just reply via PEXA.

Why do we need the otherside to accept an invitation before you can have a conversation?

Re: Using the conversation tool

Hi Brett

When will this feature be placed in PEXA. I've spoken to another PEXA user this morning as she had not accepted my PEXA invitation and I had to phone her. She said if she could use the conversation (even though she did not accept the invitation) she could have let me know she was waiting on her client to decide if they were also purchasing and there may be a delay in her accepting. As PEXA is now, she can't communicate with me using the conversation tool as she has not accepted the invitation.  Why not just implement this feature as there must be others who would use it. Please don't just talk about doing this and other problems, you need to sort these bugs out of the system.

Re: Using the conversation tool

Hi all

Is it just me but when I use the conversation tool all parties are listed in the 'To' field and even though there are crosses next to the party names, I can't remove anyone. As the mortgagee on title, there are questions I'd like to direct only to the party listed on the discharge authority.

Re: Using the conversation tool

Hi @dcondello

Interesting. I just tested this in our training environment and was able to remove a subscriber from a message reply.

Can you try to create a new conversation using the new conversation button and simply add the subscriber you wish to communicate with?

Hopefully that works fine.

Thanks

Brett

Re: Using the conversation tool

Huh. I'm having a different experience now. When I try a new conversation and select participants I have a drop down list that I can choose from. When I select someone by accident I can remove them. Very happy now Smiley Happy
