On Friday 28 July, Lisa Carle, General Manager Financial Services, and I were pleased to attend Vouge Codes with three female Westpac staff. This summit aimed to empower women in the technology industry. Of interest were the key note speakers, from an array of industries, who told their stories of gender equality, innovation and the future of technology. Payal Kadakia founder of ClassPass, Anastasia Cammaroto CIO Westpac Group and Julie Trell Head of Telstra’s start-up accelerator Muru-D were all standout speakers.
The panel discussion led to lively conversation around the importance of mentoring and role models and why we should back women in the workforce.
Sarah Jewell, Senior Operations Manager Westpac Originations, was impressed with the summit.
“It was a fantastic day I won’t soon forget! The calibre of speakers was incredible”, she said.
Danielle Saaib, Team leader Commercial Maintenance Westpac, echoed Sarah’s view.
“I have to say that I felt very privileged to be a part of such an amazing day. I left feeling inspired and extremely motivated after hearing so many different success stories. Some learnings I can take and apply within my own team”, said Danielle.
