Why I Love PEXA - Despite My Critical Comments I Remain A True Believer
OK, so I've been drawing attention to some of the shortcomings of PEXA, and I'm even backing away from it for a while until a few more wrinkles are ironed out of it. But let me make it clear - I remain a true believer in the PEXA process and its place as the future of conveyancing.
Why am I so keen on PEXA? Those of you who have completed a few PEXA settlements will know the comfort of having settlement finally locked in, and watching the progress of the matter in the workspace. No more frantic calls from the settlement agent because someone's turned up with the wrong cheques, or a name on a cheque has been misspelt, or the settlement agent can't attend in time, or some other last minute glitch that will see a purchaser in tears because they can't move in on the weekend.
My experience is that if something is not quite right at the time appointed for settlement, a further half hour is just added on while the issue is sorted. No re-attendance fee, no working out who to blame in order the claim costs; just a call to the client to say that settlement will take just a little longer.
When PEXA works, it works beautifully.
I like analogies, and so here's another for the golfers. Every golfer has at one time or another managed a shot that Greg Norman would be proud of. The only difference between the average hacker and the pro is that the pro is more consistent with those great shots.
PEXA will get there, it's just a matter of working on consistency.
I'll continue to offer critiques of PEXA, but I do so only because I want to help it to realise its potential. Otherwise I just wouldn't bother saying anything at all.
