Hello, Hope someone could assist. We are in process of refinancing our mortgage to different bank and would like to arrange for Change of Title as part of this transaction. This is for our PPOR and currently there are both myself and my spouse are on title and we would like to change it to just one person. We have already signed Transfer of Land form and have also received Stamp Duty Exemption (Certificate of Duty) certificate from State Revenue office. Both of these documents have been provided to the new lender. However, we are being told that we would need a solicitor on our end as well in order to proceed with this Change of Title transaction. My understanding was that Change of Title is better to be done during refinance process so that we could save on solicitor etc cost as Bank could lodge the documents on our behalf. This is also what I had done in past in 2017 during refinance process and did not require solicitor on my end. Has anything changed since then? Why the new lender/their solicitor could not lodge this on our behalf like it happened in 2017? Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks.
